Hunton & Williams LLP continues the expansion of its national corporate practice with the arrival of Scott H. Kimpelas a partner in the Washington office. Prior to joining the firm, Kimpel served as Counsel to Commissioner Troy A. Paredes of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

In his position at the SEC, Kimpel served as Commissioner Paredes’ liaison to the Commission’s senior staff as well as external constituencies, including issuers and other SEC registrants, investors, press, members of Congress and trade associations. Prior to the SEC, Kimpel practiced for 10 years at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
Kimpel graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and received his J.D. with honors from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he served as managing editor of the SMU Law Review and Journal of Air Law and Commerce.
