Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua Soven has joined the firm’s Washington, DC office as a partner.

Soven was formerly Chief of the Litigation I Section of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, where he was responsible for investigating and prosecuting merger and non-merger antitrust violations in a range of industries, including health care and consumer products.  He served in this position for five years.  Before that, he served as an Attorney Advisor to the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission and as a Trial Attorney for the Antitrust Division’s Networks and Technology Enforcement Section.

“We are delighted to have Josh join the firm,” said Ken Doran, Chairman and Managing Partner of Gibson Dunn.  “We have one of the premiere antitrust practices in the U.S. and internationally.  An experienced and well-rounded antitrust lawyer, Josh is an excellent fit for our team.  He has a high profile in the antitrust community, and his extensive agency background, both with the DOJ and the FTC, will help us better serve our clients.”

“Josh is an impressive addition to our group who will bring broad experience and keen insight to our representations of clients before the U.S. and international competition authorities,” said Daniel Swanson, Co-Chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice.  “His DOJ and FTC experience will enhance our ability to provide the highest level of service to our clients, and his trial skills will add to our deep bench of antitrust litigators.  During his 14 years of agency experience, he led dozens of investigations, presented numerous complex matters to agency leadership, and engaged regularly with international antitrust authorities.  Lawyers of Josh’s calibre make Gibson Dunn a destination firm for the most important and challenging antitrust matters.  His arrival will help maintain our standing as one of the top antitrust practices in the U.S. and the world.”

“I am looking forward to returning to private practice,” said Soven.  “With its renowned litigation and antitrust practices, Gibson Dunn is the ideal place for me to start the next phase of my career.”
