Laurence S. Rickles has joined the White Plains, New York office of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC as a Member of the firm’s widely-recognized Intellectual Property practice. He concentrates his practice on trademark, copyright, domain name and social media matters including clearance, prosecution, litigation, due diligence, licensing, training, counseling and portfolio management.
Rickles has served in various in-house roles at Johnson & Johnson for the last 17 years, most recently as Associate Trademark Counsel. During that time, he managed the trademark portfolio for several of Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer product affiliate companies as in-house trademark and copyright counsel, including matters such as clearance, prosecution, and litigation supervision matters, among others. Rickles was also responsible for the development and clearance of pharmaceutical product names, the successful resolution of federal trademark infringement lawsuits, and he participated in the development and implementation of policies designed to enhance and protect the iconic Johnson & Johnson signature.

Rickles earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1987 and his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1984.
