The law firm of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP is pleased to announce that Mark L. Josephs is a new partner in the firm’s White Collar & Government Enforcement Practice Group. Residing in the firm’s Boston office, Josephs will focus on complex health care and financial-fraud criminal and civil enforcement cases. He joins Edwards Wildman from the US Department of Justice, where his most recent position was the assistant director of the Consumer Protection Branch.
A seasoned litigator of nearly two decades, Josephs has substantial knowledge of the health care industry, including the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Medicare, and other health care statutes and regulations. He also has broad experience in litigation involving government contracts and the False Claims Act. Josephs has prosecuted cases in the pharmaceuticals area, resulting in the payment of the largest criminal fine in US history for violations of drug-marketing provisions of the FDCA, as well as the highest civil penalties ever paid to the Federal Trade Commission in a telemarketing fraud case.

Josephs has received many awards, including the Attorney General Award for Exceptional Service, the highest award bestowed by the US Department of Justice; the Executive Office for US Attorneys Director’s Award; the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association Award; and the Federal Trade Commission Outstanding Performance Award. He is a frequent speaker on health care and pharmaceutical topics. Josephs earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
