DLA Piper Expands Corporate Expertise in Italy

DLA Piper has announced the hire of Michael Bosco as a partner in its Corporate practice. Michael will head DLA Piper’s Equity Capital Markets practice in Italy, as well as coordinate the firm’s US practice across the Mediterranean basin. Michael arrives from Shearman & Sterling, where he has spent his entire career to date.

Michael has significant experience in cross border capital markets and M&A transactions, with a particular focus on Europe and the US. His recent assignments have included advising on IPOs, privatisations, high yield and leveraged lease financings, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures, as well as the representation of sovereign wealth, private equity and real estate investment funds.

Michael is well respected for his deep knowledge of US law and is particularly recognised for his skill in assisting clients on sophisticated and complex deals. He has been consistently ranked in Tier 1 of various international legal directories in recent years. He started his career at Shearman & Sterling and was a major factor behind the firm’s growth in Italy, where he founded the Rome office in 2001.

Federico Sutti, DLA Piper’s Country Managing Partner for Italy said: “the arrival of Michael is a very important step in strengthening our Italian firm and the corporate practice in particular. DLA Piper is ideally placed to advise on capital markets work and strategic transactions which are becoming increasingly important internationally.

“In addition to assisting the firm’s US relations thanks to his strong knowledge of that market, Michael will support the firm in developing its operations across Europe, creating and bolstering local relationships. This will further strengthen DLA Piper, which is already one of a very few international firms able to advise clients on various European markets.”

Michael S. Bosco will join DLA Piper’s Rome office on October 15 2012.
