Experienced Securities Lawyer Marlon Paz Joins Locke Lord’s White Collar Team

Marlon Q. Paz, a litigator experienced in complex securities issues, internal investigations and compliance has joined as a Partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Locke Lord LLP as part of the international Firm’s Litigation Department. Paz’s significant experience in global anti-corruption matters, especially in Latin America, combined with his experience with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and major financial institutions will boost the already strong capabilities of Locke Lord’s Securities and White Collar/Internal Investigations practice.

Paz served in a senior position during his more than six-year tenure with the SEC, where he played a key role developing the SEC’s positions on many important regulatory and enforcement matters. He joins Locke Lord from his previous post as Principal Integrity Officer for the Inter-American Development Bank, where he managed a team of lawyers and investigators in the development, investigation and prosecution of fraud and corruption cases in 26 Latin American countries. A seasoned lawyer who has also worked in private practice, Paz has represented financial institutions and corporations in large-scale securities and other litigation matters. He is an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches courses on securities law and international business litigation.

Recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential U.S. Hispanics by Hispanic Business magazine, Paz also has been recognized in previous years as one of the Top 20 Latino Leaders Under 40 by Latino Leaders magazine. He is a past recipient of the SEC’s Equal Employment Opportunity Award and was named a Rising Legal Star earlier in his career by the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia. He is a frequent speaker and author on securities and white collar issues both nationally and internationally.
