Robert Zeglovitch Returns to Leonard, Street and Deinard as Shareholder in the Labor and Employment Practice

Leonard, Street and Deinard today announced that Robert Zeglovitch has rejoined the firm as a shareholder in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice.

Zeglovitch focuses his practice in the area of employment litigation and counseling, including discrimination litigation, employment contracts, workplace harassment litigation, non-compete agreements, whistle-blower claims, labor arbitrations and more.

“Bob’s return to Leonard, Street and Deinard will allow us to tap into his extensive litigation experience as well as to extend the reach of the firm’s expanding collective and class action litigation practice,” said Dominic Cecere, shareholder and chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment practices. “Bob also joins us in advising businesses in the region and nationwide with respect to their sophisticated labor and employment needs.”

Zeglovitch began his law career at the Minneapolis firm Pepin, Dayton, Herman & Graham, which merged with Leonard, Street and Deinard in 1988. He was a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, including serving as chair for eight years, until 2006. At that time, he left the firm to launch a solo law practice in the Twin Cities.

Zeglovitch is recognized as one of the top employment litigators in Minnesota, having successfully litigated a wide range of cases for both individuals and employers in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He has been regularly selected for inclusion as a Minnesota Super Lawyer®, named to the Best Lawyers in America and singled out as a leading lawyer in the area of employment by Chambers USA.

Among his professional achievements, he:

  • Secured summary judgment dismissing a whistle-blower claim against a large food processing company.
  • Represented Hennepin County in a multi-plaintiff racial harassment lawsuit in federal court. Successfully moved to dismiss several counts of the complaint and secured dismissal of all remaining claims on a motion for summary judgment.
  • Successfully represented a multinational defense contractor in numerous employment discrimination matters.
  • Defended a startup business in non-compete lawsuit brought by a large corporation and defeated motion for preliminary injunction to enforce the non-compete agreement after intensive discovery.
  • Represented two corporate officers in a complex, multi-count federal lawsuit alleging fraud, negligent misrepresentation and breach of contract. Secured dismissal of several claims on a motion to dismiss and succeeded in getting the remaining claims dismissed on a motion for summary judgment. Successfully defended the case on appeal.
  • Served on the legal team representing a medical school professor in a nationally recognized sexual harassment litigation in federal court. Following a lengthy trial, the court ordered the retroactive promotion of the plaintiff to full professor and awarded back pay.
  • Represented a major national printing company in employment litigation in federal and state courts throughout the U.S.

Zeglovitch earned his law degree with High Honors from Rutgers University School of Law in 1984 and bachelor’s degree in history from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
