Norton Rose Advises on Delta Airlines Proposed US$360 Million Stake in Virgin Atlantic

International legal practice Norton Rose is advising Delta Air Lines, Inc. in relation to the proposed US$360 million acquisition of a 49 per cent stake in Virgin Atlantic from Singapore Airlines.

The transaction also involves a proposed transatlantic joint venture agreement between Delta and Virgin Atlantic and a revised brand licence with the Virgin Group.

The Norton Rose team is led by London based corporate partners Chris Pearson and Chris Randall, assisted by Sarah McKellar, Terri Francis, Alexander Green and Charles Bremner.

Regulatory advice is being provided by Norton Rose’s London based partner Martin Coleman and senior associate Ian Giles; tax advice by partner Louise Higginbottom and of counsel Ed Denny; and brand related advice by partner Mike Knapper and senior associate George Cameron.

Chris Randall, partner in Norton Rose’s London office, commented:

“This is a potentially landmark transaction, and is evidence of the continued corporate activity happening in aviation. For our part, it was particularly pleasing to be able to field such a strong multi-practice team on the deal, drawing on our long established strength in the transportation sector.”

The Norton Rose team worked alongside the Delta Air Lines, Inc. in-house legal team, who also received US law advice from Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP.
