Having completed the merger of Novak Druce + Quigg LLP and Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz LLP—which officially formed the IP “super boutique” Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg LLP on Jan. 1—the firm quickly jumped into high gear, announcing that seven attorneys from Boston-based Rissman Hendricks Oliverio (four partners and three of counsel) joined on Dec. 31. This expansion reinforces the super boutique’s status as the 7th largest IP firm in the country with more than 140 attorneys, agents and technical advisors across eight offices.
“With our merger with Connolly Bove final on Jan. 1, it is a nice bookend of sorts to have ended the year with Novak Druce picking up these highly experienced attorneys in Boston and continuing in the push to be in as many of the relevant innovative markets in the U.S. as we can—a vision shared by all of our new partners as we move forward now as Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg,” said Gregory V. Novak, the firm’s managing partner and CEO.
“It is an exciting time to join Novak Druce who—as a result of astute, targeted merger activity over the last several years—has become one of, if not the most, expert group of intellectual property practitioners in the U.S. today,” said Lawrence Oliverio, one of the firm’s new partners. Mr. Oliverio is joined by fellow partners Therese Hendricks, John Rissman and Jay Stelacone. “Novak Druce’s expertise in every facet of intellectual property practice—particularly in litigation, prosecution, re-examination and other post-patent-grant procedures affected by the America Invents Act—is a resource that will provide our clients with a clear, competitive edge over their competition.”
In addition to the newly formed Boston office, the firm has locations in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, Washington, D.C., Wilmington, Del., and Houston, which will serve as the merged firm’s headquarters.
