Former Virginia Attorney General Tony Troy Joins Eckert Seamans in Richmond

Eckert Seamans is very pleased to announce that former Virginia Attorney General Anthony F. Troy has joined the firm as a Member in the Richmond office. He comes to Eckert Seamans from Troutman Sanders LLP.

Troy, who served as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s chief lawyer from 1977-78, is well versed in attorney general matters and has developed a nationally-recognized practice focused on issues coming before State Attorneys General. Since leaving public office, he focuses his practice on multistate regulatory work, government relations, consumer protection, civil litigation, white collar criminal defense and administrative law matters. In addition to representing clients in single and multi-state enforcement action by State Attorneys General, Troy’s practice also includes commercial advertising, tobacco, antitrust, first amendment litigation, election law litigation and other commercial litigation matters. Troy has previously been recognized as one of the top lobbyists in Virginia. .

A graduate of St. Michael’s College and the University of Richmond School of Law, Troy is a member of the National Association of Attorneys General and previously served on a special panel on ethical issues in complex litigation, reporting to the National Commission for Review of Antitrust Laws and Procedure. His other pursuits serving the legal profession include acting as a Fellow and former board member of the Virginia Law Foundation; a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation; a past member of the Council for the Future of the National Judicial College; a past faculty member of the Virginia State Bar (Professionalism Committee, 1994-1997; Past Chair, Special Committee on Resolution of Fee Disputes); and a member of the Boyd Graves Conference.

Active in the community, Troy also serves on the Board of Trustees of Virginia Intermont College and served on the Board of Directors of the University of Richmond T.C. Williams Law School Association; he is the past Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Science Museum of Virginia; on the Board of Directors and past President of Wintergreen Partners, Inc.; on the Board of Directors of the General Eastern Ski Insurance Risk Retention Group; on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Foundation for Research & Economic Education (VA-FREE); the Virginia District Export Council; the Virginia Chamber of Commerce; and past president of the Wintergreen Nature Foundation.
