John Fusco Joins Edwards Wildman as a Business Law Partner in Stamford

Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP is pleased to announce that John C. Fusco has joined the firm as a partner in the Business Law Department. Residing in the firm’s office in Stamford, Conn., Fusco will substantially enhance the firm’s capabilities in import and export matters.

Fusco focuses his practice on international trade and government contracting, including export compliance and controls and US Customs and trade laws. He counsels clients to comply with regulatory schemes such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and The Export Administration Regulations. He represents companies with issues before the Departments of Commerce and State on export control matters, and before US Customs and Border Protection on Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) designations, customs seizures and tariffs. He also brings considerable experience in establishing distribution channels and corporate presence overseas. Finally, Fusco is familiar with restrictions governing US companies that do business abroad, such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and rules promulgated by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.

“John brings to us a significant understanding of international trade laws, including export and import regulations, which is of vital importance to many of our clients looking to expand their operations beyond our own shores,” said Christopher D. Graham, a Providence partner and co-chair of Edwards Wildman’s Business Law Department. “His practice nicely complements our corporate and litigation strengths, and we are pleased that he has chosen to join our firm.”

Fusco comes to Edwards Wildman from the Hartford office of Shipman & Goodwin, where he was a partner. He was appointed by US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and reappointed by Secretary Gary Locke to a seat on the Connecticut District Export Council, among other honors.

After earning his undergraduate degree from Providence College, Fusco graduated from the University of Bridgeport School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
