Ulmer & Berne LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Laura C. McBride as a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. Based in the firm’s Cleveland office, Ms. McBride will be the co-chair of the firm’s Energy, Natural Resources and Utilities Practice Group.

Ms. McBride’s practice focuses on assisting clients in navigating through and around federal and state regulatory issues in a wide range of industries and forums. Her experience includes public utilities and public law litigation, federal and state contracts and regulatory matters, and business litigation of all types. She also has significant experience in health care and life sciences matters.
Ms. McBride serves clients in a variety of regulatory arenas, including the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She also has held the position of program analyst in the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

Named an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2012 and 2013, Ms. McBride is Vice Chair of the Healthcare Liability & Litigation Practice Group of the American Health Lawyer Association (AHLA), and serves on the Board of Directors for Baby-Friendly USA, Inc., a non-profit responsible for evaluating and certifying U.S. hospitals as meeting the standards set by UNICEF and the World Health Organization’s Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.
Ms. McBride has a B.A. from The College of Wooster, an M.S. in health policy from Dartmouth College, and a J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School.
