Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that G. Daniel McCarthy, has joined the firm as a Director in the Corporate Department.
Most recently, Mr. McCarthy served as the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Hewlett-Packard Financial Services Company (HPFS). Mr. McCarthy was one of the founders of HPFS and was integral in building the company into a $13 Billion international financial services business. In addition to leading a global legal department of more than 22 attorneys, Mr. McCarthy served on the company’s five-person Global Credit Committee, which established and managed worldwide investment strategies, risk management policies, and systems to manage regulatory, compliance, and governance matters for HPFS. He also served as the head of the worldwide Government Affairs organization for the parent company from 2001 to 2002 and was a Director of Hewlett-Packard International Bank, Dublin, Ireland, from 2003 to 2013. Prior to that, Mr. McCarthy spent eleven years as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Risk Management Officer, and Secretary of AT&T Capital Corporation, where he managed a global legal team of more than 30 lawyers and oversaw all risk management functions. He also spent two years as a Federal Prosecutor in Philadelphia and seven years in private practice in Washington, D.C.
Mr. McCarthy earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame, his AMP degree from Harvard Business School, and his B.A. from the University of Dayton. He is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Mr. McCarthy also assisted in founding the Irish American Bar Association of New Jersey.
