Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP announced that litigator Joe Sadler has joined the firm as a partner in the Grand Rapids office. He will be joined in the growing West Michigan office by associates Emily Byl and Taylor Webb.
Honigman opened the Grand Rapids office at the end of 2016 after hiring leading corporate lawyer Tracy T. Larsen, who is office managing partner and co-leader of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice.
“Joe Sadler further adds to Honigman’s bench in Grand Rapids, bringing years of litigation and insurance recovery experience, as well as strength in the captive insurance space,” said Larsen. “He is another example of the high level of talent Honigman is attracting in Grand Rapids.”
Sadler joins Honigman from Kotz Sangster Wysocki PC, having previously spent nine years at
Warner Norcross & Judd LLP. He focuses his practice on business and insurance litigation matters and risk management, previously serving as lead attorney for several high-profile consumer brands during trial and arbitration proceedings. He is also experienced in trademark and copyright litigation, as well as privacy and defamation matters. Sadler earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law, and his B.A., cum laude, from Indiana University Bloomington.
Experienced associates Byl and Webb both moved to Grand Rapids after starting their careers in New York City and Chicago, respectively. Byl joins Honigman from the New York City offices of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. She focuses her practice on securities, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions. Webb moved to Honigman’s Chicago office from Chapman and Cutler LLP earlier this year and completed his planned transfer to the Grand Rapids office this month. He focuses his practice on private equity and venture capital.
“We are delighted that Emily and Taylor have chosen Honigman Grand Rapids to continue their legal careers,” said Larsen. “Honigman is recognized nationally for its M&A, Private Equity and Securities practices, and the addition of Emily and Taylor expands our base in Grand Rapids.”
