Cozen O’Connor is pleased to announce that George A. Bibikos has joined the firm’s Energy, Environmental and Public Utilities practice as a member in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania office. He comes to Cozen O’Connor from K&L Gates, where he was a partner. Bibikos joins on the tails of Robert Fallon, who last week joined the firm’s Energy, Environmental and Public Utilities practice, working out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Bibikos has a litigation, regulatory and transactional practice that focuses on oil and gas law, energy and natural resource development, environmental litigation and regulatory counseling, public utility law and administrative law.
“George’s regulatory and transactional acumen will be of tremendous value to our energy, environmental and public utilities practice and adds to our increasing list of top attorneys in Pennsylvania,” said David Zambito, vice-chair of the firm’s Energy, Environmental and Public Utilities Practice and office managing partner of the firm’s Harrisburg office.
In the past decade, Bibikos has represented a broad range of clients in the energy sector, including oil and gas companies developing natural gas from unconventional shale formations like the Marcellus and Utica located in the Appalachian Basin. His clients also include interstate pipeline companies, midstream companies, public utilities, alternative energy producers, oilfield services companies, construction equipment rental companies, major land developers, major food corporations, government contractors, and other commercial entities in various market sectors.
“The energy sector is complicated and rapidly evolving. Cozen O’Connor is very focused on expanding its already impressive energy, environmental and public utilities practice and we are extremely pleased George and Bob will be a part of this growth,” said Ira Megdal, co-chair of the firm’s Energy, Environmental and Public Utilities Practice.
In addition to his energy practice, Bibikos serves as an adjunct professor of oil and gas law. He has written more than 40 publications during the past 10 years and is a frequent lecturer at professional CLE events on topics that span a variety of disciplines including oil and gas law, environmental law, cybersecurity in the energy sector and public utility law. He also devotes considerable time to pro bono matters and received a “Pro Bono Award” from the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 2009. Recently he was selected as a 2015 “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by The Legal Intelligencer and as a 2015 recipient of Central Penn Business Journal’s “Forty under 40” award.
Bibikos received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Widener University Commonwealth Law School where he was editor-in-chief of the Widener Law Journal and named a Widener Scholar. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Shippensburg University.
