Kennedys Strengthens Asia-Pacific with New Partner Duo

We are delighted to welcome two new partners to Kennedys – Kevin Yam in Hong Kong and Nick Francis in Singapore. This will strengthen our shipping, trade, professional indemnity and regulatory capabilities across Asia-Pacific.

Kevin Yam joins our Hong Kong office from a market-leading disputes and regulatory department of a leading international law firm in Hong Kong, where he was a senior associate specialising in commercial litigation, professional negligence and related disciplinary proceedings, banking litigation and regulatory investigations. Kevin also brings with him in-house experience from his years of being Legal Counsel at a big four accounting firm in Hong Kong.

Kevin will focus on developing the regulatory side of the practice and will also enhance the firm’s professional indemnity offering, in particular to accountants. The Hong Kong office now has 15 partners.

In Singapore, Nick Francis, who has been with Kennedys for over four years, becomes the office’s fifth partner. Nick is a shipping and trade lawyer with over 15 years experience, the last 12 of which have been in Asia – having lived and worked in Japan, Shanghai, Hong Kong and now Singapore.

Nick works for owners and operators, P&I insurers, charterers, traders and marine insurers, and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and Hong Kong. He is also a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand.

Rupert Skrine, who heads up Kennedys’ Asia-Pacific offices, says: “The arrival of Kevin and promotion of Nick underlines our commitment to the continued growth of our offerings across the Asia-Pacific region.”

Nick Thomas, Senior Partner says: “Our ability to promote and attract lawyers to the partnership, who both bring unrivalled legal knowledge and expert industry insight, strengthens the service we offer to clients in the region and bolsters the overall international growth of the firm.”

We now have 31 partners across Asia-Pacific and 177 across the firm.
