Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Richard Wilmot as a partner in its Hong Kong office.
Richard advises and represents banks, buyers, and trading companies on commodities and regulatory matters. He has particular expertise in contracts for the supply, transportation, sale and purchase, and storage of petroleum products, coal, LNG and LPG. He also represents clients in dispute resolution, both litigation and arbitration, as well as expert determination and mediation. Richard has been a partner at Holman Fenwick Willan, Hong Kong since 2000.
The arrival of Richard and his team complements the existing transactional and commercial practices within the office’s core sector strengths of maritime, natural resources and energy. Watson, Farley & Williams, having established its market-leading Asia presence over 14 years ago, opened in Hong Kong earlier this year.
Richard joins WFW with a team of three associates covering corporate, commercial and litigation; they are Andrew Carpenter, Josephine Chan, and Noelle Doo.
Michael Greville, WFW Managing Partner, commented: “The recruitment of Richard and his team brings the complement in our office up to the level we had planned for the first year, covering corporate, finance and litigation work in the firm’s key areas of shipping, natural resources and energy; this is consistent with our overall Asian practice, in Singapore and Bangkok, and it provides an excellent base for further development in Hong Kong and into China.”
Loretta Lau, partner and head of WFW Hong Kong, said: “Our Hong Kong office has only been open since March 2012 and already we are very busy. The arrival of Richard and his team brings a new dimension to the group and I look forward to welcoming them all.”
On his arrival at WFW, Richard Wilmot said: “WFW offers a truly international platform in trade and key sectors in finance and investment. So my team is obviously excited to be joining WFW in Hong Kong and I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the firm’s practice in Asia.”
