Kirkland & Ellis is pleased to announce that David Irvine has joined the Firm’s Hong Kong office as a partner in the Debt Finance Practice Group. Mr. Irvine has extensive experience on large cross-border leveraged and acquisition financing transactions, as well as on a variety of structured and secured lending transactions and restructurings.
“David is one of the leading banking lawyers in Asia acting on financings with some of the most active sponsors in the region,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “We look forward to David strengthening our top tier global finance practice and Hong Kong office.”
Mr. Irvine joins Kirkland from the Hong Kong office of Linklaters, where he was a partner since 2008. He previously worked in Linklaters’ London office for seven years, including secondments at J.P. Morgan and Bank of America. He is listed as a “go-to” leveraged finance lawyer in Asia by Chambers & Partners.
Mr. Irvine holds social science and law degrees from the University of Natal in South Africa. He is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, and an attorney, notary and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.
