Global 50 law firm Goodwin announced today that partners Douglas Freeman and Victor Chen have joined the firm’s international Private Equity Practice in the Hong Kong office. Having worked together for many years, Freeman and Chen have developed a robust Asia-focused practice guiding private equity firms, investment banking firms, venture capital and institutional investors in connection with public and private M&A, securities offerings, financings, PIPEs and auctions in various industries.
“Goodwin’s Hong Kong private equity platform is a vital part of the firm’s international offering that is truly full-service, covering the entire life cycle of clients’ investments – from fund formation to investments and exits,” said Yash Rana, chair of Goodwin’s Hong Kong office. “Doug and Victor are outstanding lawyers who are joining our platform at a time when we are seeing increasing client demand for local, cross-border, in- and out-bound support on Asia transactions as well as interest from investors seeking more specialized sector experience. Doug and Victor previously worked with several Goodwin partners at their prior firm. We are pleased that they are reuniting with us and we welcome them to Goodwin.”
“Doug and Victor are widely regarded as leaders in the Asian private equity and M&A markets,” said A.J. Weidhaas, co-chair of Goodwin’s Private Equity Practice. “Their joining of our international practice of more than 160 private equity lawyers across the U.S., Europe and Asia is a natural fit, one that will allow us to continue to deliver top-notch Goodwin service and experience to our current and prospective clients as the regional landscape continues to evolve.”
“I’m delighted to reconnect with Doug and Victor at Goodwin,” said Ilan Nissan, senior partner in the firm’s Private Equity Practice. “Their combined depth of experience and strong portfolio of work on private equity and M&A transactions are unmatched and a compelling addition to our international capabilities. I look forward to collaborating with them once again on cross-border mandates.”
