Sidley Austin LLP is pleased to announce that Meng Ding has joined the firm in Hong Kong as a partner in its China Corporate and Finance group. Mr. Ding joins from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a partner in the firm’s Capital Markets practice group.
Mr. Ding has extensive experience in a broad spectrum of capital markets and M&A transactions, especially in the TMT, healthcare, financial institutions, hard-tech and other emerging technology fields. He has advised on numerous Hong Kong IPOs, U.S. IPOs and follow-on offerings, pre-IPO investments, U.S. public company going-private transactions, and Rule 144A and Regulation S bond offerings (investment grade and high-yield). He also regularly advises U.S.-listed companies on SEC compliance, exchange reporting and other general corporate matters.
Mr. Ding received a Ph.D. degree in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds 31 issued U.S. patents. Earlier in his career, he was a high-tech research and development technologist in Silicon Valley, where he focused on new product development. He stays well connected to the tech community, particularly in Greater China.
“Meng is highly regarded by issuers, investment banks and other institutions that dominate the IPO market,” said Constance Choy, managing partner for Sidley’s Asia Pacific region and member of the firm’s Management and Executive Committees. “Meng’s substantial experience advising on Hong Kong IPOs and U.S. SEC-registered offerings, and his deep understanding of emerging technologies and technology companies, will be a valuable addition to our practice.”
Sidley’s China Corporate and Finance group is a vital part of the firm’s leading global Capital Markets group, representing clients in structuring and executing securities transactions and disclosure matters across several sectors, including fintech, telecommunications, media and technology and life sciences. In particular, the firm advised on three of the last eight life sciences-oriented IPOs in the Hong Kong market.
