Winstead PC welcomes Marcus J. Brooks. Brooks is a shareholder in Winstead’s taxation, employee benefits and private business practice group. He was previously a partner at Naman Howell Smith & Lee, PLLC.
Brooks has represented a broad range of taxpayers, including private and publicly-held companies, estates and individuals in federal and state tax controversy and tax litigation matters. He also advises clients on a wide array of federal and state tax matters involving transactional and compliance issues.
After graduating with Highest Honors from the University of Texas School of Law, Brooks served as a law clerk for The Honorable James L. Dennis of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School and has been named a Texas Rising Star from 2010 to 2013. Brooks is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and he is admitted to practice in the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Courts in the Western District and Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals 5th Circuit.
