BakerHostetler announced today that Ed Friedman has joined the firm’s Employment and Labor Group as Partner in its Houston office. He comes to BakerHostetler from Locke Lord LLP.
Friedman has extensive experience with noncompete and trade secrets matters and regularly represents FORTUNE300 companies on a nationwide basis in matters involving unfair competition, employee raiding and misappropriation of trade secrets. In prosecuting these claims, he obtains injunctions to prevent employee raiding, unfair competition and the disclosure of trade secrets. Friedman also provides counsel on hiring key employees from competitors, negotiating officer and executive employment agreements, restrictive covenants in incentive compensation plans, investigating and defending whistleblower retaliation claims as well as litigating discrimination and wrongful termination cases. Additionally, he represents companies during mergers and acquisitions, conducting due diligence and providing pre-and post- merger advice.
Friedman has been named one of America’s “Leading Lawyers for Business,” a “Best Lawyer in America” and a “Texas Super Lawyer.” He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.S. from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
