Respected Texas corporate standout Carlos Treistman has joined global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Houston. He joins from Orrick, where he was Co-Chair of the Latin America Practice and one of the founding partners of the Houston office, and served as the original Office Leader.
Greenberg Traurig opened in Texas more than 15 years ago and now has more than 125 attorneys in three Texas offices located in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
“Greenberg Traurig has a unique strategy and culture in Texas: to build a true Texas firm, where our people are trusted, respected, and empowered to compete; who are part of a unified global platform; and where the people and practices fit our culture and practices,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, the firm’s Executive Chairman. “We are excited to welcome Carlos, a true leader with strong community and client contacts, who truly fits our culture. His deep roots in the Houston community and his international experience will immediately enhance our peerless LatAm practice, built from the ground up in Miami, New York, Mexico City, and beyond.”
“Carlos’s reputation, not simply as a LatAm star, but also as a superb M&A and private equity lawyer, deepens our strong Texas corporate bench at this pivotal and exciting time in the continuing diversification of our state’s economy,” said Mary-Olga Lovett, the firm’s Senior Vice President and the Co-Regional Operating Shareholder of its Texas offices. “With broad industry experience that runs from energy, the heart of our ‘traditional’ economy, to technology, an engine for the future – and many sectors in between, Carlos will lead teams that will provide the firm and its clients with unmatched reach and expertise.”
“Greenberg Traurig’s strength in Latin America as well as in Corporate, M&A, and Private Equity, were important elements in making my decision to come here,” Treistman said. “I have known the team here for years and look forward to expanding our relationship. With regard to LatAm, Patricia Menéndez-Cambó’s leadership is a tremendous draw for my clients. It is a pleasure to be associated with this level of quality and to be able to contribute on a global scale.” Menéndez-Cambó is a Vice-Chair of the firm and has chaired its Latin American & Iberian Practice as well as its Global Corporate Practice.
Treistman’s practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, joint ventures, infrastructure development projects, and private equity transactions. He works with domestic and foreign clients in a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, power, mining, real estate, transportation, technology, and telecommunications.
Greenberg Traurig’s Latin American & Iberian Practice members work closely with attorneys across all of the firm’s practice groups. The practice and its attorneys are consistently recognized in the various guides published by Chambers & Partners, including Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global, and Chambers USA, as well as in The Legal 500 Latin America guide.
