Experienced corporate attorneys Douglas Lionberger and James Brown have joined Holland & Knight in Houston as partners in the Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group. Both were previously partners at Winston & Strawn.
Prior to joining Winston & Strawn, Mr. Lionberger and Mr. Brown were partners at Thompson & Knight, a Texas-based law firm that combined with Holland & Knight in August 2021.

Mr. Lionberger’s capital markets experience includes the representation of issuers and underwriters in initial public offerings (IPOs) as well as public and private offerings of equity and debt securities. He also works with private equity investors, their portfolio companies, and a variety of other public and private companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and strategic investments.
Mr. Brown focuses his practice on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity, special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) offerings and securities law. He regularly counsels clients on strategic transactions, public and private capital markets offerings, and general corporate and securities law matters. His capital markets experience includes the representation of issuers and underwriters in U.S. and international capital markets transactions, including IPOs, SPAC IPOs, as well as public and private offerings of equity and debt securities. Mr. Brown also regularly represents private equity investors, their portfolio companies, and a variety of other public and private companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and strategic investments.

Mr. Lionberger received a J.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a B.A. degree from Texas A&M University. Mr. Brown received a J.D. degree from the University of Houston Law Center and a B.A. degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
