King & Spalding announced today that energy transactional lawyer Drew Baldinger has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate practice group and Energy industry team. Baldinger is based in the firm’s Houston office.
Baldinger represents energy companies, private equity sponsors and strategic investors in M&A and joint venture transactions in the upstream, midstream, downstream, renewable and transitional energy sectors. He has extensive experience advising clients on offtake, gas supply, transportation and other key contracts in the oil and gas sector and also advises project developers, private equity firms and portfolio companies on M&A, financing and project development matters relating to conventional and renewable energy technologies, including gas-to-liquids, solar, wind and geothermal generation projects.
“Drew’s diverse M&A and private equity background, which spans every aspect of the energy value chain, adds breadth and depth to our overall energy transactional capabilities and particularly strengthens our upstream and midstream bench,” said Jonathan Melmed, co-chair of the firm’s Corporate practice group. “Drew is highly entrepreneurial and a known quantity to many of our partners and clients, and we are looking forward to his contributions to the growth of our transactional energy practice.”
Baldinger joins King & Spalding from Skadden, where he was a partner. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas and his J.D. from University of Texas School of Law.
“King & Spalding has both a top-notch energy practice and a firm-wide focus on teamwork and collaboration that is very attractive to me,” said Baldinger. “I’m really excited to be reuniting with colleagues whom I have deep admiration for here at K&S and to see where my practice can go on the firm’s extensive platform.”
