Houston – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Brian Kilmer as a partner in the restructuring and insolvency practice. He joins the firm’s Houston office from Kilmer Crosby & Quadros PLLC, a boutique firm he co-founded.
Kilmer’s practice focuses on representing debtors, unsecured creditors’ committees, and secured creditors in complex Chapter 11 cases in a variety of industries in jurisdictions such as Texas, Delaware, New York, Michigan, Florida, and Louisiana. He regularly represents secured creditors in single asset cases and out-of-court workouts, as well as acquirers of distressed assets and debtors. In addition, Kilmer has extensive experience with general business litigation matters.
“We are thrilled to add a bankruptcy attorney of Brian’s caliber to our Houston office and the firm,” said Anil Patel, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Houston office. “Brian’s capabilities, in combination with the firm’s robust global platform and bench strength in restructuring and insolvency, will allow him to continue his excellent representation of existing and future clients in various bankruptcy matters, and particularly in large Chapter 11 cases and unsecured creditors’ committee work. We welcome Brian to the firm, and look forward to him building a successful practice in Houston.”
Kilmer’s arrival follows the additions of restructuring and insolvency partners Julien de Michele (Paris) and Eugene Yeung (Hong Kong) to K&L Gates earlier this year. They are among the more than 90 partners and of counsel the firm has welcomed since the beginning of 2020.
Raleigh partner and restructuring and insolvency practice group coordinator Margaret Westbrook commented: “K&L Gates’ restructuring and insolvency group differentiates itself from many large firms by providing broad geographic coverage to meet clients’ needs across the United States and globally. With Brian’s arrival, we expand our ability to offer excellent client service in one of the most popular bankruptcy venues in the nation and add depth to our team that collaborates to handle complex matters spanning multiple jurisdictions.”
Combining the firm’s restructuring and insolvency experience with its proficiency in related areas such as mergers and acquisitions, private equity, asset-based lending, secured transactions, distressed real estate, and intellectual property, K&L Gates’ restructuring and insolvency practice offers a broad range of clients such as lenders, borrowers, debtors, creditors, equity holders, committees, trustees, credit providers, asset purchasers, vendors, landlords, and receivers creative legal solutions in areas including transactions, planning, counseling, and litigation.
