Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP announced today that Scott Miller
has joined the firm as a partner in its Houston office.
Mr. Miller represents middle-market private equity firms and their portfolio companies as well as
corporate clients in a wide variety of private M&A transactions including leveraged buyouts,
platform company acquisitions, growth capital investments, early-stage financings and exit
transactions. As a long-time Houston-based practitioner, Mr. Miller regularly advises clients
focused on industrial and energy-related transactions.
“We are pleased to welcome Scott to our private equity team,” said firm Chairman Steven J.
Gartner. “The addition of Scott in Houston reflects our commitment to our outstanding Houstonbased
private equity clients and broad business relationships in that market.”
“Few in Houston have Scott’s deep experience representing sponsors and their portfolio
companies in complex leveraged buyouts, platform company build-ups and liquidity
transactions. As importantly, Scott’s thoughtful and measured practice style squares with our
commitment to provide tailored resources to middle-market funds who have a no-nonsense
approach to getting deals done,” said Bruce C. Herzog, head of the firm’s Houston office.
“I look forward to working with Willkie’s market-leading clients,” said Mr. Miller. “Private
equity has become increasingly complex and so I am excited to hit the ground running with
Willkie’s extensive team of M&A, asset management, tax, acquisition finance and restructuring
lawyers who have spent decades representing a wide range of middle-market firms on an equally
wide range of transactions.”
Mr. Miller joins Willkie from Bracewell, where he practiced for 16 years. He earned a J.D. from
Washington University School of Law, an M.B.A. from Washington University and a B.S. from
The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Launched in November 2014 as the firm’s first domestic office opening in more than 30 years,
Willkie’s Houston office focuses on M&A projects involving energy funds, upstream, midstream
and OFS companies, industrial and growth capital sponsors and their portfolio companies,
energy finance, energy restructurings and fund formation. Its substantial client base includes a
number of the most highly regarded funds and most active energy, industrial and growth capital
sponsors in the region.
