Orrick announced today that Gabriel Salinas has joined the firm as a partner in its M&A and Private Equity practice and Latin America team, resident in its Houston office. Orrick launched its Houston office earlier this year and has rapidly grown it to 42 lawyers drawing on top-tier talent in the Texas market. Gabriel joins Orrick from Mayer Brown.
“Many members of our team have worked across the table from Gabriel, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Orrick,” said Carlos Treistman, leader of Orrick’s Houston office and co-head of the firm’s Latin America practice. “Gabriel brings tremendous experience across Latin America, and stands out for his experience in the Mexican energy market, an area that is undergoing a rapid transformation.”
“We are excited to deepen our Latin America bench with a rising star of Gabriel’s caliber. His deep experience in Mexico and Latin America, coupled with his bilingual skills, bicultural understanding, and deep energy sector experience, will be a tremendous asset to our clients,” said Rodrigo Dominguez Sotomayor, co-head of Orrick’s Latin America practice.
Gabriel represents clients in cross-border transactions and projects in the energy and infrastructure sector, with a focus on Latin America. In addition, he advises on oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), conventional and renewable power and other energy-related projects. Dual-licensed in the U.S. and Mexico, Gabriel’s practice is on the cutting edge of Mexico’s rapidly changing energy landscape.
“I was drawn to Orrick’s commitment to build a Latin America team with a group of top-tier corporate, M&A and energy lawyers. I look forward to helping the firm’s clients globally connect with opportunities in the Latin American and Mexican energy markets,” said Gabriel.
Recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America, Gabriel received his LLM from Harvard Law School, his J.D., with high honors, from Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Elmhurst College. He is a native of Monterrey, Mexico.
