Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that experienced restructuring lawyer James Grogan has joined the firm as a partner, based in Houston. His arrival adds further depth to the firm’s leading global Finance and Restructuring practice and accelerates Paul Hastings’ strong lateral growth in key practices across its global platform. Grogan returns to the firm from Blank Rome LLP in Houston.
“With the uncertainty and volatility facing our clients in today’s marketplace, we are continuing to deepen our leading global Finance and Restructuring practice by adding talented lawyers like James,” said Seth Zachary, chairman of Paul Hastings.
“I am excited to return to Paul Hastings and rejoin the Firm’s outstanding Restructuring practice,” said Grogan, who practiced in the firm’s New York and Houston offices earlier in his career. “Paul Hastings’ culture of collaboration offers valuable opportunities for me to further develop my practice.”
Grogan focuses his practice on representing company and creditor clients in complex financial restructurings, bankruptcy cases, and out-of-court workouts. He focuses on solving his clients’ most challenging problems by designing and implementing negotiation and litigation strategies, and serving as lead trial counsel in bankruptcy disputes. He also has extensive experience with complex cross-border restructurings, having advised on some of the most important, market-leading engagements in recent years.
With the arrival of Grogan, Paul Hastings adds further momentum to its strong lateral growth. Over the past year, the firm has welcomed more than two dozen partners, including Finance and Restructuring partners Justin Rawlins and Philip Ratner in Los Angeles and New York, respectively. Other recent lateral additions include Privacy and Cybersecurity partner Aaron Charfoos in Chicago; Antitrust and Competition partner Camille Paulhac in Paris; Entertainment litigator Steven Marenberg in Century City; Capital Markets and Fintech partner Christopher Austin in New York; and Investigations and White Collar Defense partner Shaun Wu in Hong Kong/Shanghai.
