Polsinelli’s Houston office continues to experience growth with the addition of shareholder Mark S. Armstrong to its Health Care Services practice. For more than two decades, Armstrong has provided strategic guidance to a broad range of health care clients involved in complex compliance and adversarial proceedings across the nation.
Recognized as a leader in health care law, Polsinelli’s 185 health care attorneys provide comprehensive legal services to health care providers across the country. “Mark’s extensive experience providing counsel on regulatory and transactional matters for health care businesses and organizations will not only be a great asset to our expanding Houston office and the area’s many health care organizations, but will also support the continued leadership of our award-winning national health care practice,” said Matt Murer, chair of Polsinelli’s national Health Care practice. “Through his sophisticated understanding of the challenges facing the ever-changing health care industry, Mark will help Polsinelli continue to provide unmatched services to our clients.”
With a focus on representing health care providers in government audit investigations, Armstrong regularly advises clients on compliance matters, health care fraud and antitrust investigations, peer reviews and administrative hearings, and state, federal, and commercial reimbursement issues. Armstrong has represented a wide range of clients, including hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, pharmaceutical wholesalers, pharmacies and managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, and physician practices on compliance matters. He has experience conducting compliance investigations and defending clients undergoing investigations by the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General, and other state and federal governmental authorities.
Prior to earning his law degree, Armstrong worked for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, giving him first-hand experience navigating the rules and regulations of the health care industry.
“Mark’s deep knowledge and understanding of complex health care law, coupled with his experience in pharmaceuticals, gives him a unique perspective on the industry,” said Greg Novak, managing partner in Polsinelli’s Houston office. “His impressive background and credentials will complement the firm’s well-established Health Care practice, while also enabling him to serve companies working in and around Houston’s world-class medical center.”
In addition to his practice, Armstrong is active in the Houston community, where he serves on the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects, an Institutional Review Board for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Armstrong earned his Juris Doctor from the South Texas College of Law and completed his Bachelor of Arts at Baylor University.
