They are the founding partners of Campbell Stephenson, L.L.P, a boutique firm that primarily advises clients on patent portfolio development, patent validity or infringement opinions, pre-litigation patent investigations, product clearance opinions, as well as a variety of transactional and strategic intellectual property matters.

At Womble Bond Dickinson, they join a team of more than 150 IP lawyers and patent agents in the US and UK. Womble Bond Dickinson manages nearly 16,000 active patent matters.

“We are aggressively recruiting top talent for our Houston office, and Sam and Eric certainly fit that bill,” said Jeff Whittle, Managing Partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Houston office. ”

Chris Humphrey, the leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, said, “Sam and Eric’s experience and skills align well with our existing patent practice. We look forward to having them on our team, and believe they will help us provide outstanding service to our patent clients.”

In addition to his patent prosecution and opinions practice, Mr. Campbell has experience drafting patent licensing agreements, technology development/transfer agreements, subscription agreements, reseller agreements, beta release agreements and similar documents.

Before pursuing a legal career, he held a variety of technical and management positions for private software engineering and hardware development firms.

Mr. Stephenson has been practicing patent law since 1992. While he focuses his practice on patent procurement and opinion counseling, he also has considerable patent litigation experience.

Prior to founding Campbell Stephenson LLP, both were partners with Skjerven Morrill, LLP in Silicon Valley. Their specific experience includes counseling clients on patent issues relating to semiconductors, software, optics, mechanical systems, electronics, computer software and hardware, and telecommunications technology.
