Brian J. Paul—an experienced and accomplished appellate lawyer—has joined Faegre Baker Daniels’ litigation team in Indianapolis.
A graduate of Vanderbilt Law School, Paul has worked on dozens of state and federal appeals. His cases have run the gamut. He has briefed and argued everything from weighty abstract constitutional issues to concrete dollars-and-cents commercial issues and any number of issues in-between. The clients he has served have run the gamut too. While he has argued cases on behalf of Fortune 500 companies in a variety of different industries, he has also represented family-owned businesses and individual shareholders; state and local governmental entities; colleges and universities; non-profit organizations; trustees, guardians and estate representatives; employee benefit plans, plan sponsors, and third-party administrators; hospitals and medical practices; doctors and lawyers; trade associations; and criminal defendants.
Paul’s name appears on more than 70 decisions, and he has had a direct hand in scores of others. Over the years, he has served many times as a panelist or lecturer on appellate-related topics, and he has also written widely on appellate litigation.
David Herzog, leader of FaegreBD’s business litigation practice, said, “Brian is a terrific lawyer who has been involved in precedent-setting cases. He brings valuable experience to our already strong appellate advocacy group.”
Paul is an active participant in several professional associations. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute. He is on the Seventh Circuit Rules Advisory Committee. He is also the current president of the Indianapolis Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society. And he is the current chair of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section.
