Ice Miller LLP is pleased to welcome Christine Hansen, a partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Christine has over twenty years of experience counseling life sciences and chemical companies on patent prosecution, due diligence and freedom-to-operate issues. She works extensively with innovator pharmaceutical companies and handles Orange Book submissions, patent term extensions and other issues at the intersection of patent and FDA law.
In the agriculture industry, Christine has worked extensively on patent freedom-to-operate issues for genetically modified crops and on the patenting of novel plant genes. She is also experienced in drafting patent licensing agreements and joint research and development agreements, including agreements between universities or governmental entities and a private-sector partner.
“Christine’s scientific background and comprehensive legal experience allows her to assist clients with all aspects of intellectual property law,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. “We are excited about the unique value she brings to our Intellectual Property Group.”
Christine comes to her patent work through a strong love of science. Aspects of her chemistry research as an undergraduate at Princeton were published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. As a Fulbright Scholar, Christine studied chemistry in Germany under the renowned professor Dr. Manfred Reetz.
In addition, Christine offers clients a global perspective on intellectual property. Her experience as a lawyer counseling European companies and working as in-house patent counsel at a French pharmaceutical company provided Christine with practical knowledge of international patent laws and working with different cultures.
In 1992, Christine earned her juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and is admitted to practice in Delaware.
