Lewis Brisbois is pleased to announce the addition of experienced trial attorney Vincent Gunter as a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment and General Liability Practices. He joins from Rasmussen, Dickey & Moore and previously clerked for the Hon. Richard E. Dorr of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He also served in the U.S. Army JAG Corps for seven years and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal while deployed to Iraq.
Mr. Gunter is a seasoned first-chair trial attorney with experience in a wide range of practice areas. Regularly handling civil litigation, employment law, and environmental law, he has successfully represented manufacturers and employers in hundreds of lawsuits brought in federal and state courts nationwide. In addition, Mr. Gunter has experience serving as in-house counsel with an international logistics company, managing products liability, medical malpractice, and toxic tort cases, as well as representing clients in civil and regulatory cases brought under CERCLA, the Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act.
In discussing his move to Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Gunter remarked on his positive experiences working with the firm. “I’ve litigated cases alongside Lewis Brisbois attorneys in Kansas and Illinois and recognize the quality of work they deliver,” he said. “I also have colleagues who have already made the move to Lewis Brisbois and were telling me great things about the firm. The ability to provide my clients with all the resources of a nationwide, full-service firm was also a key factor in moving my practice.”
Kansas City Managing Partner Alan Rupe welcomed Mr. Gunter to the firm, noting, “Vince is a perfect match for our talented and experienced litigation team. His work ethic, unique background, and successful results make him a valuable addition to Lewis Brisbois and its clients.”
Additionally, Partner David Szlanfucht, who worked with Mr. Gunter at his previous firm, said, “I’m excited to have Vince join Lewis Brisbois and expect even greater things from this partnership in the future. Vince brings a depth of experience in many areas of the law and a trial readiness that adds significant value to the firm. As much as he brings in legal acumen, Vince is an even better individual and a great friend.”
A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law in Kansas City, Mr. Gunter regularly participates in legal clinics and pro bono work in the Kansas City area. Outside of his legal practice, he is an active member of the Kansas City Children’s Assistance Network and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Association. He is admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
