Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli welcomes experienced corporate law attorney Emil R. Infante as shareholder in the firm’s Miami office. With this addition, Polsinelli has created its first-ever Latin America Practice (LATAM), led by Infante. Infante joins Polsinelli from the Miami office of Holland & Knight.
With an established corporate and cross-border law practice, Infante brings significant experience in securities, financial regulation, banking, family office services, restructuring, cross-border transactions and international dispute resolution to Polsinelli’s national Corporate & Transactional Practice. He represents Latin American businesses and families who are conducting business in Latin America and the United States.
“We are so pleased to have a lawyer of Emil’s skills and reputation in the community join our growing national team of corporate and transactions attorneys. We look forward to the immediate impact he will make not only in Miami, but across the U.S.,” said Polsinelli Corporate & Transactional Practice Chair Jonathan K. Henderson. “Emil has deep experience in LATAM matters; we are confident in his ability to create and build our LATAM Practice from the ground up, a unique opportunity that we know he looks forward to and will embrace.”
Infante brings significant experience with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), anti-corruption, anti-money laundering investigations and compliance within the U.S. and Latin American markets. He advises sovereign nations, foreign companies and family groups conducting business nationally, and in both Latin America and the Caribbean on complex corporate and financial matters. He has counseled clients in multiple international litigation and arbitration matters, and has robust experience as an arbitrator involving insurance claims and insurance coverage disputes.
“Polsinelli’s prominent and respected national platform, reputation and client service-focused approach represent a unique opportunity to take my practice to the next level,” said Infante. “I look forward to launching the firm’s LATAM Practice, solidifying and expanding relationships with local law firms throughout the Caribbean and Latin America and working with clients on their most complex domestic and international issues in this new role.”
With background in both the business and legal professions, Infante advised high-net-worth individuals and institutions. As an investment adviser, he created and led a professional athlete division and advised professional athletes on the administration of their financial affairs. Additionally, Infante brings public policy experience as a former advocate for a financial organization in Washington, D.C., where he promoted the interests of member companies in federal, legislative, regulatory and judicial forums communicating the benefits of competitive and integrated financial services publicly.
Infante joins Polsinelli’s newest office in Miami, comprised of attorneys who serve clients in the health care, real estate, financial services, logistics, litigation and conflict resolution and entertainment industries and provide a range of legal services.
“Emil’s reputation in South Florida is second to none, and we very much look forward to having him at Polsinelli and part of our Miami office team,” said Polsinelli Miami Office Managing Partner J. Everett Wilson. “Having Emil on board is the first, and most important, step in building a Latin American Practice; we believe this is an important and exciting step for our mid-market client focus.”
Infante graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sacred Heart University before earning a M.A. in International Affairs, magna cum laude, from the University of Dayton. He received his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law, and furthered his education with a LL.M. in Securities, Banking and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center. Infante also holds a Certificate in International Dispute Resolution and Legal Issues from the University of Innsbruck, Austria Center for International Legal Affairs.
Infante has earned many distinctions throughout his legal career, including being listed among The Best Lawyers in America in Corporate Law for the past two years, named Latin America’s Rising Legal Star, Latinvex, South Florida Legal Guide’s Top Lawyer in 2018 and 2019, and Top Dealmaker of the Year, Corporate International, by Daily Business Review in 2012, to name a few. He is a member of the Pan American Development Foundation Board of Trustees, the Fundacion Cardioinfantil de Colombia, Amigos USA Board of Directors, and is a frequent speaker on LATAM legal matters.
As the leader of Polsinelli’s LATAM Practice, Infante will focus on building the firm’s capabilities and team to help clients navigate a full spectrum of corporate legal needs. The firm’s LATAM Practice partners with individuals and businesses from Latin America seeking to establish and build in the United States.
As part of Polsinelli’s growing national Corporate & Transactional Practice, which provides a range of legal services from selecting the appropriate choice of entity through exit strategies and everything in between during the life cycle of a business, Infante further expands and strengthens the team’s capabilities through growth. He joins other recent additions of the practice, including Sean Power (Shareholder-Kansas City), Bryan Wasser (Principal-Los Angeles), Edward T. Laborde (Shareholder-Houston) and Natalie A.
