Skadden is pleased to announce that Daniel Michael, who recently stepped down as chief of the Complex Financial Instruments Unit of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement, is joining Skadden as a partner. Mr. Michael, who will be based in our New York office, will advise clients on SEC enforcement and regulatory matters as part of the firm’s Government Enforcement and White Collar Crime Group. He will work closely with former SEC colleagues in Skadden’s Washington, D.C. office. His practice will focus on counseling financial services firms and other firms and companies, as well as their boards and executives, on enforcement and internal investigations and a broad range of regulatory matters within the jurisdiction of the SEC.
Holland & Knight has expanded its nationally recognized Private Equity Team with the addition of Alvin Johnson as partner in the firm’s Atlanta office. Mr. Johnson represents private equity firms and the world’s leading companies in a wide variety of domestic and cross-border transactions. He was previously with DLA Piper.
Orrick announced today that Max Cantor has joined the firm as a partner in our Technology Companies Group in New York. Max’s addition builds on the arrival of 11 corporate transactions partners to Orrick this year and the 5th lateral hire in New York. Prior to Orrick, Max was a partner with Fox Rothschild.
Shariff Barakat, who brings substantial experience advising on the development, acquisition and tax equity financing of renewable energy projects, has joined Akin Gump as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and a member of the firm’s project finance & development and tax practices. Pillsbury has recruited former federal prosecutor Kimberly D. Jaimez as a partner in the firm’s Litigation practice in Los Angeles. Jaimez was most recently an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, having served two years in the General Crimes section and five years in the Major Frauds Section. At Pillsbury, Jaimez plans to focus on corporate investigations, government enforcement, white-collar defense and general litigation.
Katten announced today that Dilen Kumar has joined the firm as a partner in its award-winning Mergers and Acquisitions/Private Equity practice in its Dallas office, which has seen major growth and success since opening three years ago. Prior to joining Katten, Kumar was a corporate partner at Kirkland and Ellis in the firm’s private equity and M&A practice, where he also served as a diversity and pro bono coordinator for the Dallas office and on the firm’s Pro Bono Management Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
