High-Ranking, Career DOJ Antitrust Division Official Joins BakerHostetler

BakerHostetler announced today that Ann O’Brien, most recently assistant chief of the Competition Policy & Advocacy Section and special counsel for Criminal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division, has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia offices. O’Brien is the third recent notable addition to BakerHostetler’s Antitrust and Competition team, following Jeffrey Martino, former chief of the DOJ Antitrust Division’s New York office, and Marc Schildkraut, former assistant director with the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition in Washington, D.C. O’Brien will also serve as part of the firm’s White Collar, Investigations and Securities Enforcement and Litigation team.

Former SEC Official and Prominent Securities Enforcement Attorney Joins Foley in Denver

Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Thomas Krysa has joined the firm’s Denver office as a partner in its Litigation Department and Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practice Group. Before entering private practice in 2016, Krysa served in government roles for nearly two decades – most recently as associate regional director for enforcement in the Denver regional office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he oversaw the SEC’s enforcement program in seven western states and before that, as head of the trial unit in the Denver regional office. Earlier in his career, Krysa served as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Tax Division in Washington, D.C. Krysa comes to Foley from Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP, where he was a shareholder in the firm’s Litigation Practice.

King & Spalding Adds Two Government Contracts Partners to its Special Matters and Government Investigations Team

King & Spalding today announced that Rick Vacura and Steve Cave have joined the firm as partners in its Special Matters and Government Investigations team.

Vacura and Cave are government contracts lawyers representing clients selling products and services to federal, state and local government customers. Their focus includes conducting internal investigations, mergers and acquisitions, procurement and IP counseling, and litigation. They are joining from Morrison & Foerster, and McKinsey & Company, respectively. Vacura and Cave will be resident in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia, joining Lawrence Yanowitch, Thomas Knox, Charles Katz, and Jeremy Schropp, corporate partners who also joined the firm from Morrison & Foerster in October of last year. Vacura will head the firm’s Government Contracts practice area.

Hogan Lovells Continues Expansion of Australian Practice with the Addition of a Finance Partner in Sydney

Hogan Lovells announced today that Bryan Paisley will be joining the firm as a partner in the Finance practice later this month, based in the Sydney office. He will be joining from Baker McKenzie in Sydney where he has been a partner for 13 years. Prior to joining Bakers, Bryan worked at Lovells (as it then was) in the London office from 1997 to 2005 including a secondment in Frankfurt in 2000 following the Boesebeck Droste merger.
