His practice has focused on buying and selling corporate vehicles (onshore and offshore), often through complex structures, and establishing joint-ventures and management arrangements between real estate fund platforms and investors. Previous clients have included some of the UK’s largest institutional investment houses, private equity businesses and family offices.
Addleshaw Goddard’s IMG is known for its big-ticket real estate deals, including multi-billion pound transactions within the Battersea Power Station redevelopment area in London, as well as high profile mandates in the ESG space, particularly around forestry investment, energy infrastructure and health tech – for clients such as Par Equity. The group last year hired real estate heavyweight Daniel Woolston from Greenberg Traurig and recently promoted Liam Diggins to its partnership, making it one of the largest mid-market investment teams in the UK legal sector.
Earlier this year, AG’s investment management team was voted “Fund Structuring Law Firm of the Year” at the Private Equity Wire Awards and was a finalist for “Funds Team of the Year” at The Lawyer Awards.
Simon’s appointment is the latest in a string of major partner hires for Addleshaw Goddard, which includes Paul Chaplin and Paul Ferguson (Disputes), Claire Edwards (Commercial), Simon Gwynne (Asset Finance), Elisabeth Marrache (IP) and Rachel Scott (IPE).
