Akin Gump today announced that Paul Yin will join as a partner on the firm’s special situations and private credit team in the London office. Mr. Yin will be joining Akin Gump from White & Case, where he has been a partner in its debt finance and private credit team.
Mr. Yin advises private credit funds and direct lenders, commercial and investment banks, investment funds, private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers on complex cross-border banking and finance transactions. His experience with front-end lending transactions, rescue financing, restructuring, general corporate financing and real estate financing complements the capabilities of Akin Gump’s special situations and private credit practice, which works with many of the most active credit investors in the market.
Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith commented, “Continuing the momentum gained through our recent hires of Josh Peary, Catherine Goodall, Fergus Wheeler and Ranesh Ramanathan, Paul’s arrival aligns with a fast-evolving financial market and underpins Akin Gump’s strategic priority of expanding our special situations and private credit team globally.”
Mr. Yin will work closely with Mr. Wheeler to continue the growth of Akin Gump’s credit platform in London, while supporting the global special situations and private credit team, led by Mr. Ramanathan and Dan Fisher. He will also work closely with the firm’s renowned global financial restructuring practice in connection with the financing of stressed and distressed credits and liquidity solutions, liability management exercises and restructurings.
“Paul’s skillset and experience working on transactions for credit investors provides further bench depth to our market-leading special situations and private credit team,” added London partner in charge Sebastian Rice. “Paul will be a valued addition to our integrated practice and significantly enhances our client offering in this growing space.”
