Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has hired Jim Charlton and Miles Humphrey into the Firm’s tax practice. Jim will be based in London, and Miles in New York. Both join the firm this January, 2022. Jim and Miles join from Deloitte, and have strong market reputations for developing innovative solutions to client problems, acting as an accelerator for relationship development on new and existing clients.
Jim was based in the business’s FTSE team in London, while Miles headed their hugely successful UK desk out of New York.
Both Jim and Miles focus on international projects for large MNEs and also significant Financial Services MNEs, with particular expertise in financing, tax reform, hybrids and other BEPs related matters. They each have a strong market reputation and innovative approach for acting as an accelerator for relationship development on new and existing clients.

Jim and Miles’ hires follows a number of recent significant lateral senior tax appointments in both the US and EMEA to further expand the Firm’s top tier global tax practice. In the US this includes, Sibel Owji (San Francisco), Ethan Kroll (Los Angeles) and Steven Tseng, (New York). In EMEA, Stephanie Pantedilaki (London), Chiara Giorgia Monga (Milan), Dr. Raffaele Petruzzi (Vienna), Florian Gimmler and Hans-Martin Eckstein (Frankfurt).
