BCLP Paris Adds New Partner, Strengthens Restructuring Practice

The international law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has announced that Didier Bruère-Dawson joined the firm as a partner within the Restructuring Practice Group. He will be based in the Paris office. BCLP continues to expand its Paris capabilities with this arrival, with Bruère-Dawson joining from Brown Rudnick.

Bruère-Dawson has advised French and international companies, institutional and private investors, and family businesses on structuring and restructuring transactions for nearly 30 years. He helps clients in their restructuring projects in France and abroad, particularly in connection with distressed M&A transactions and complex cross-border financing. He also advises on the management of risks related to insolvency proceedings, conciliation, ad hoc mandates and turnarounds and is well known for his experience in M&A, project finance and buyouts of distressed companies, both from a transactional and litigation perspective.

In addition to handling numerous domestic cases, Bruère-Dawson advises foreign investors in France and French investors abroad. His in-depth understanding of the cultural differences inherent in his work experience in several countries, combined with his ability to manage crisis and complex situations, makes him a valuable partner for businesses in the current COVID-19 crisis.

“The crisis we are going through poses many unique challenges. It has also been an accelerator for certain changes that have long been in the works. I am joining BCLP at a crucial stage of transformation. The firm’s range of experience in Paris and London is supported by recognised and experienced professionals but also by its broad global footprint. These are essential assets for successfully carrying out operations with increasingly international aspects. In addition to the strong synergies, it is the ability to support complex global projects and the associated challenges that has attracted me to join the well-regarded team at BCLP,” Bruère-Dawson says.

“Didier’s arrival is an important component of the firm’s continued efforts to recruit top lateral candidates in support of BCLP’s international growth plans under its new Project Advance strategic plan and growth initiative to build scale around three key areas: real estate, corporate and financial transactions, and complex litigation. His practice is complementary to our corporate, tax, financing, labour, competition, litigation and real estate teams in Paris and his international profile matches our ambition to meet the increasingly global challenges of our clients in all sectors. Didier’s cross-functional approach to cases combined with his profile as a strategist is a key asset for our development into the restructuring space,” explain Paris Managing Partners Olivier Mesmin and Constantin Achillas.
