Chris McGarry Joins White & Case as a Partner in London

Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Capital Markets Practice with the addition of structured finance lawyer Chris McGarry as a new partner in London. McGarry joins White & Case from Ropes & Gray, where he was a partner.

“London is an important hub for structured finance transactions and we’re recognised as a market leading structured finance practice,” said White & Case partner Stuart Matty, who heads the Firm’s Global Capital Markets Practice. “Our global structured finance team includes lawyers in the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific delivering a broad portfolio of structured products to finance a variety of transactions, including private equity, and the arrival of Chris further strengthens our client offering.”

The addition of McGarry, who joins the Global Capital Markets Practice, supports the Firm’s strategic focus on growth in London, in capital markets and in the global financial institutions industry. His practice is focused on structured finance transactions, advising sponsors, issuers, arrangers and investors on securitisations and collateralised loan obligations including all types of asset-backed securities, residential mortgage-backed securities, trade receivables and esoteric asset classes such as commodities and TMT receivables.

“Chris is an entrepreneurial, technically skilled, energetic and experienced lawyer who is held in high regard by his clients and has a growing profile in the London market,” said White & Case partner Philippe Herbelin, Regional Section Head, EMEA Capital Markets. “As well as building our capability in London, Chris is an excellent fit with our existing client portfolio as we continue to focus on growing our London-based financial sponsor, funds and large corporate clients.”

Oliver Brettle, executive partner in London and member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, said: “Our 2020 strategy includes a focus on profitable growth in London, in capital markets and in the global financial institutions industry and Chris drives us forward in all three areas. His addition follows the arrival in London since the beginning of 2017 of Patrick Sarch and Marc Israel, as well as the promotion of eight new partners.”
