Global law firm Clifford Chance has announced today that Philipp Girardet will join the firm as a partner in its Global Antitrust Group based in London. Philipp joins from Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
He brings deep expertise in EU and UK competition law, including in relation to complex, cross-border merger control, FDI and antitrust/cartel defence cases as well as market investigations, and compliance advice/behavioural matters. His expertise also extends to digital regulation issues, competition litigation and strategic consumer law cases.

Notable recent hires in the Global Antitrust Group include partner Michael Grenfell, former Executive Director of Enforcement at the CMA, who joined in August. Recent client mandates include successfully representing Spotify in the European Commission’s antitrust investigation against Apple for app store abuses. The team also advised Cisco on its $28bn acquisition of Splunk and Arçelik on the CMA’s Phase 2 clearance of the formation of its new standalone home appliance business, further demonstrating the firm’s strategic focus in navigating complex antitrust matters.
