Global law firm Clyde & Co today announced the expansion of its market-leading national casualty practice following the hiring of two leading insurance lawyers. Jennette Newman and Jonathan Edwards join Clyde & Co as partners to further enhance the firm’s pre-eminent global insurance group.
Jennette headed BLM’s London office and its Lloyd’s and London Market sector. Her professional practice provides dispute resolution and defence litigation, coverage and wording advice in catastrophic injury and complex major loss claims, including those involving spinal and brain injuries across casualty and motor lines. She also provides crisis management and serious incident advice in dealing with health, safety and regulatory investigations and prosecutions, including corporate manslaughter, Health & Safety at Work Act breaches and directors prosecutions.
Jonathan also joins from BLM. His work is focused on liability risk management, advising insurance companies and large corporates on both contentious and non-contentious legal issues across all aspects of insurance liability claims including employers’ and public liability, motor, Coroners’ Court proceedings, and Health & Safety investigations and prosecutions.
David Wynn, Partner at Clyde & Co, comments: “Jennette and Jonathan are both well known in the insurance market and further strengthen our national casualty practice. They bring with them a close understanding of and connections with the London market, something that is central to Clyde & Co’s business. They have both proved very adept at leading, managing and nurturing teams and have shown an ability to innovate and grow their practices.”
Clyde & Co’s UK casualty practice is one of the largest in the country with more than 40 partners across ten offices. The group provides a full range of casualty expertise, from volume claims through to complex liability cases, to Clyde & Co’s UK insurer clients.
