International law firm DAC Beachcroft has appointed two new Partners in its London office as it continues to invest in its Technology and Employment coverage in the UK.
Tim Ryan will lead DAC Beachcroft’s national Technology practice after joining from Memery Crystal, where he was Head of Commercial, Media and Technology. Also formerly of Addleshaw Goddard, PWC Legal and in-house at Sodexo, Tim’s practice sees him advise clients on technology, fintech, cyber security and digital media.
DAC Beachcroft Partner and Head of Business Advisory, John Williams, said: “This is a very positive development for our Technology offering. We have a strong track record of helping clients with their technology projects and Tim will help us strengthen this still further, working on Fintech, Insuretech and Healthtech matters.”
“His appointment also means we will be well placed to take advantage of the opportunities to support growing technology businesses and Tim will work alongside our Corporate Finance and Financial Institutions teams in London and our Technology teams in Leeds and Manchester to achieve this.”
Meanwhile, David Sims has joined DAC Beachcroft’s Employment & Pensions Group (EPG) as a Partner in London from the highly-regarded employment practice at Clifford Chance, having trained and qualified at the magic circle firm in 2004.
His practice covers employment litigation (both in the Employment Tribunal and the High Court), a full range of employment advisory work (senior hires/exits, trade union and works council issues, restrictive covenants and cross-border matters) and the employment aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A, listings, outsourcing, real estate developments, Brexit-planning projects, reorganisations and insolvency.
David advises a wide spectrum of clients across the financial services sector, including investment banks, insurers, private equity houses, sovereign wealth funds and large corporates, complementing the existing client base of DAC Beachcroft’s London EPG team. He also has particular expertise in the regulatory issues facing financial services sector employers, including remuneration reform, corporate governance and the Senior Managers & Certification Regime.
DAC Beachcroft London EPG Head, Khurram Shamsee, said: “I am delighted to welcome David to the team. His client base and experience are a perfect fit for us in London. As an experienced litigator, David enhances our reputation as a ‘go-to’ firm for complex discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract litigation. His expertise on regulatory reform will also strengthen our offering to our financial services sector clients.”
DAC Beachcroft Managing Partner, David Pollitt, said: “Both these senior appointments are extremely good news for our business. Their decision to join us is further evidence of our increasing ability to attract lawyers at the very top of their game. I’ve no doubt Tim and David will play a significant role in helping us achieve the sustainable value we want to deliver for our clients and our colleagues over the coming months and years.”
