Dechert LLP has expanded its leading global funds practice with the addition of London-based partner, Thiha Tun. Spanning key European fund domiciles, as well as the U.S., Middle East and Asia, Dechert’s financial services practice adds Mr. Tun to its 200 lawyer-strong investment funds team.
With over two decades of experience as an investment funds lawyer, Mr. Tun advises alternative asset fund sponsors, institutional investors and financial advisors on a broad range of issues, including fund formation and capital raisings, fund investments, secondary transactions, establishment of managed accounts, carried interest schemes and co-investment arrangements.
“Thiha’s wealth of experience and expertise will further enhance our global funds capability and supports our continued growth in London and worldwide,” said Gus Black, global co-chair of Dechert’s financial services group.
“This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of the world’s leading funds practices with a commitment to further expansion and investment in London and other major investment management hubs” added Mr. Tun.
Mr. Tun is the latest in a series of partner hires to Dechert’s global funds practice, with Dublin managing partner Carol Widger and London-based Luxembourg specialist Marianna Tothova both joining in January 2019.
Dechert’s financial services group was the first and is the leading funds team to span the key European funds domiciles of UK, Luxembourg, Ireland, France and Germany, as well as the U.S., Middle East and Asia. Dechert advises across the full range of fund structures, particularly focusing on alternative funds, private equity and private debt, hedge, exchange traded funds and UCITS. The firm represents 23 of the world’s top 25 largest global asset management firms and 41 of the top 50 private debt firms.
