Dentons Bolsters its Global Energy and Projects Capabilities With Key Partner Hire

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, is pleased to announce the hire of Colm Ó hUiginn as energy and projects partner. He joins from Shearman & Sterling in London.

Colm joins a genuine full function energy specialist team which has been established for over 60 years. The team is engaged on ground-breaking and first of a kind matters both within the UK and globally. Recent highlights include advising Wintershall Dea on the acquisition of interests in the Algerian Reggane Nord gas project and advising Petronas on the sale of interests in Azerbaijani natural gas field.

Colm advises on the development and financing of greenfield projects across the spectrum of the energy and infrastructure sectors, with particular experience in the emerging markets. He has been involved in some of the world’s largest and strategically significant projects within the energy and infrastructure sectors – personally advising on key matters to government ministers and senior executives of large project developers.

Colm is recognised as a “Rising Star” for the Emerging Markets sector and also a “key lawyer” for Energy and Infrastructure in the Legal 500 – including a specific recommendation for ‘helping stakeholders with the complexity involved in delivering major projects’.

Lucille De Silva, Head of Dentons UK Energy practice, said: “We are delighted to expand our energy capabilities with the addition of a highly regarded partner to our top ranked energy practice. Colm joins at an incredibly exciting time for the team where we are advising on all aspects of UK and global energy transactions”.
