Dentons Recruits Leading Tax Lawyer in London

Dentons is pleased to announce the hire of tax lawyer Alex Tostevin as a partner in London. He joins the Firm from Weil Gotshal & Manges where he was a senior associate. Prior to that, Alex was a senior associate at Clifford Chance.

Alex advises both UK and international clients on all areas of tax. His clients range from sovereign wealth funds and private equity houses to leading multinational organisations and financial institutions. Alex’s areas of speciality include real estate, infrastructure, financial services, energy, technology and indirect taxation. He brings with him coveted experience from many high profile cross-border and local deals.

Commenting on the hire, Brandon Ransley, UK Managing Partner at Dentons, said, “With our cross-border, global tax practice, we are able to draw on resources around the world to provide clients with the best possible advice when it comes to both local and international tax. Alex’s arrival reinforces these capabilities, and he is a great addition to the team in London.”

Alex Thomas, Tax partner at Dentons, added, “Over the coming years, we expect to see a dramatic change in the type of work undertaken by tax lawyers with international tax initiatives such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) strategy generating vast amounts of work. Alex’s experience advising international clients across a broad range of sectors means he is particularly well placed to help us capitalise on these developments.”

Dentons’ UK Tax practice is a cross-border, multi-jurisdictional group that advises clients on all aspects of tax-related issues. The team has a market-leading reputation for its tax advice to clients investing into and out of emerging markets, particularly the Middle East, Africa and the CIS. Its clients include blue-chip, big names across the media and telecoms, energy, financial services, insurance and retail sectors. The team also has experience in advising ultra high net-worth individuals and private companies, as well as multi-national enterprises, listed companies, partnerships, and funds.
