Dentons Welcomes Neil McKnight as a Partner to its Tax team in London, Rounding Off a Strong Year for Partner Hires in the UKIME Region

Dentons is delighted to welcome experienced corporate tax specialist Neil McKnight as a partner to its Tax team in London. Neil joins Dentons today (9 December 2024). He joins the firm from Morgan Lewis, where he was a partner in the tax practice.

Neil specialises in corporate tax matters for UK and international clients, focusing on M&A transactions, domestic and international tax structuring, financial transactions (including securitisations and structured finance), and real estate tax matters.

He also has a burgeoning reputation for, and experience in, the tax implications of global mobility and ESG.

Neil’s appointment is the 12th partner hire for Dentons’ UK, Ireland and Middle East (UKIME) region in 2024, half of which have been in London, marking a decisive period of expansion in senior talent as the firm looks to grow core practice areas, led by client demand and Dentons’ growth ambitions.

Most recently, Dentons announced the appointment of US securities finance partner Colin Chang to its Capital Markets team in London, and before that Financial Regulatory Partner Andrew Barber to the Regulatory and Investigations Group, also in London.

Other London partner hires this year included Susan Moore to the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency Team; Laura Whyatt to the Competition Group; and Tom Taylor in the Real Estate Practice.

In Dublin, Dentons has welcomed Louise Hodnett and Garrett Hayes to its Corporate team and Susan Doris-Obando to its People, Reward and Mobility practice.

In the Middle East, Abdullah Alsulaimi joined the Dispute Resolution team in Riyadh, and Stephen McKenna and Ross Barfoot have both joined the firm’s Corporate team in Abu Dhabi.

Paul Jarvis, CEO of Dentons’ UKIME region said, “We are thrilled to welcome Neil to the firm, rounding off a solid year for lateral hires across our region in key strategic areas for our business.

“Not only does our Tax team support Dentons’ world-class transactional practices but it has a strong cross-border tax advisory practice which provides a vital service to Dentons’ clients wherever they do business across the globe.

Alex Thomas, Head of the Dentons UKIME Tax practice and co-leader of the firm’s Global Tax Group, added: “Neil’s appointment is a superb addition to our international tax team of over 370 tax professionals around the world. The London office is known for its international tax advisory practice and is a hub for complex cross-border tax advice. Neil’s appointment is an important step towards us achieving our strategic goals for the Tax team. “
