Eversheds Sutherland Bolsters its Energy & Infrastructure M&A Finance Capability

Eversheds Sutherland has welcomed finance lawyer, David Wyles, to play a leading role in growing its energy & infrastructure M&A finance capability. David joins partner Alex Carver, who moved from global law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer last year to take on the role of Global Co-Head of Energy & Infrastructure Finance. David was previously a partner and infrastructure M&A finance lead at international law firm, Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF).

David is a highly experienced professional who has advised on over £30bn-worth of energy and infrastructure financings and refinancings in recent years.

David advises lenders and investors on financings across a wide range of energy and infrastructure assets with a focus on brownfield infrastructure M&A processes and refinancings.

David’s recent transactions include advising on: a series of financings and refinancings in the UK smart meter sector; an infrastructure debt fund on the holdco financing for a portfolio of solar parks in Poland; the financing for the proposed acquisition of Parmaco Oy, the Scandinavian prefabricated buildings provider; the award-winning €3bn project financing for NeuConnect, a ‘first-of-kind’ interconnector between the UK and Germany. This deal was also named ‘International Power Deal of the Year 2022’ by sector publication, Project Finance International and ‘Power Transmission Deal of the Year 2022’ by Infrastructure Journal.

Legal industry directory, Chambers UK (2022), describes David as “…approachable, pragmatic and knows the market well.”

He is also noted for “…his handling of secondary market infrastructure transactions involving transport, energy and renewable assets…” and is praised for being “…very experienced…” and very effective at “…making the right commercial judgements.”

Both Chambers UK and Legal 500 2023 list David as a ‘leading individual’.
